What is Kramer?

Kramer is a peer-to-peer forecasting game inside Farcaster. Challenge other Farcasters to see how good their predictive powers are. Hold them accountable for their outlandish statements. Win DEGEN from them in the process. Over time, you will build up your credibility and be able to see where you rank inside the community. And, as a bonus, prizes are paid out each month for being the best forecaster on the platform.

How does Kramer work?

You can play Kramer in one of two ways: 1) Make a prediction by crafting a verifiable, time-constrained wager.

or 2) Accept another player’s challenge (aka their wager). Wagers pop up in users' Farcaster feed to maximize visibility for participation and conversation. A wager is limited to one predictor and one challenger. We may expand wagers to multiple players in the future. For now, it’s 1v1. Once both sides of the wager are taken, the bet is on! Kramer records, settles, and awards players based on the outcomes. Bets are settled after the predictor's deadline.

How do I make a wager?

You must have a Farcaster account to use Kramer. We recommend Warpcast, the preferred client built by the Farcaster team. Go to Kramerapp.com. Craft your wager. It will generate a link for you to drop in a Warpcast post as if it's an article link. Once you post it, everyone will be able to see your wager and challenge you if they are so inclined. Your wager is open for 48 hours. If no one takes your wager, you hve your DEGEN returned to you.

How do I accept another player’s challenge?

Click the “Bet” button you see inside the Kramer frame. You may only accept challenges from other players.

What is a bet?

A bet is an accepted wager between two Farcasters. It has the following traits: Prediction: Kramer will have 1 million users Result By: 01/01/2025 Your Wager: 10 DEGEN Their Wager: 10 DEGEN

Total Winnings: 20 DEGEN The terms must be specific, measurable, and time-bound. Example 1: The price of $DEGEN will be above $1.00 by 12/1/24 Example 2: Man City will win their 8th Premier League title in 2024

How are bets settled?

All bets are recognized and settled by the Kramer team. The challenges issued are screened for verifiable or measurable events that can be proven online. Kramer reserves the right to reject wagers that fail to meet said criteria. In the future, settlement will be automated through a trustless oracle. It is important to note the settlement system will evolve to match future, more complex bets. For now, we are keeping it simple.

How long do bets last?

A wager (a bet that has no challenger) is open for 48 hours. If no one challenges your wager, then your DEGEN are returned back to you. A bet is a wager accepted between two Farcasters. Bet deadlines are determined by the predictor when they create the wager. Any bet that is not settled will not count. Your DEGEN will be returned to you.

What am I betting with?

Every player begins with a complimentary 100 DEGEN, courtesy of Kramer. You can wager as little as 0.01 DEGEN and as much as 20 DEGEN for any given wager. DO NOT SPEND THEM ALL. Currently, you can only get more DEGEN by winning bets against other players or through awards from the Kramer (ex: most accurate predictor or being a good faith actor in the community). Eventually, you will be able to use the DEGEN in your verified wallets.

When are bets settled? How do I receive a prize?

All bets are settled after the wager deadline (aka 'Result By'). In the event that a bet requires clarification or is unable to be settled, Kramer will notify all parties in the comments. In addition to the head-to-head winnings, the Kramer team will award DEGEN for audacious bets that live up to the spirit of the protocol. The value of these prizes will vary.
